Jessica Smith’s cheerleading squad needed a little help, and it was mom to the rescue.

Jessica’s mother, Jaime Smith, didn’t have any formal cheerleading training, but she was happy to give it a try.

“She was 8 years old when she decided she wanted to try (cheerleading) and her team needed volunteers. So I started coaching,” Jaime Smith said.

Four years later, Jaime Smith is still there.

“The best thing is, we get to watch them grow up from little girls to young women. It’s been very rewarding,” the Grass Valley resident said.
