Adult Sports – Don Drageset

Don Drageset has spent most of his 62 years on a bicycle.

“I was born into the business. My grandfather, my father and my uncle all owned bike shops; then I did,” he said.

Drageset swam and did gymnastics in high school, but it wasn’t until he was 21 that he found his calling: road racing.

“I raced in Southern California for 15 years, and I’ve been riding ever since,” he said.

He made the switch to mountain bikes when he moved to the Nevada County area in 1981. He raced for five years before hanging it up.

Drageset may not be competing anymore, but he still hits the road or trail for two to three and a half hours at least three times a week.

“The thing I like the most is the awesome sense of inner well being you get (after a ride),” the Cedar Ridge resident said.
