Admiration for a coach

After reading the unpopular news regarding the Nevada Union baseball team, I am saddened to see The Union felt the need to use Coach White as a scapegoat with the help of an unnamed source. I’d hate to see so many years of selfless generosity be disregarded by a writer who took the word of someone who wouldn’t even provide their name.

As a former player, I stand behind Ted White the coach, the mentor, the teacher, the friend and the father figure he was and still is to me. Other than the obvious fact he taught me the tools I needed to succeed in baseball, he also steered me through a tough point in my life. On more than one occasion, Coach doubled as a counselor and a shoulder to cry on during my weakest moments. His sympathy and compassion helped get me through to the next day, all while his family waited for him at home.

I admire Coach Ted White and I hope the irresponsibility on your part influences readers to send in their letters of gratitude for the many years of coaching Ted White has provided.
