No. 1 seed ABC Sharpening added another volleyball trophy to its collection Sunday evening as it defeated No. 2 seed Kopavi in two straight sets (26-24, 21-15) in the Nevada County Adult Sports Association 6×6 Summer Co-Ed Volleyball League championship match at the Veterans Memorial Building in Grass Valley.

ABC Sharpening overcame an early deficit in Game 1 and battled hard with its back against the wall on several occasions. Trailing once again 20-17, the team rallied for three straight points to keep its chances alive. The game featured 13 lead changes and five set points before Daniel Frazer finally served up the game-winner.

“We were down and came back to win,” said ABC Sharpening’s Lisa Duggins. “That’s a hard team (Kopavi) to come back on. We’ve had some close games this season. We have our moments, but we always seem to come through in the end.”

After taking the first set, momentum carried over for ABC Sharpening (9-1) as it jumped ahead 5-4 in Game 2 and never looked back. Kopavi (6-4) advanced to the championship match with a win over Fun Time.
