Nevada County authorities investigate Sunday evening shooting

UPDATE at 8:22 p.m.:

Nevada County authorities responded Sunday evening to a South County address after someone was shot in the abdomen, according to Sheriff Keith Royal and police scanner reports.

The shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 23000 block of Highway 49, initial reports indicate. Details remained unclear at the time, though Royal said someone was hit by gunfire and that no one was in custody at the time.

“We don’t know the circumstances or anything at this point,” he said. “We’ve got people on site.”

Deputies and an ambulance responded to a home near Highway 49 and Sharonjack Road. Initial reports indicated that an argument occurred before shots were fired and someone was hit, according to scanner traffic.

One person was taken to a Roseville hospital, reports indicate.
