Yuba River Charter School suit is called disappointing

I was disappointed to learn about the suit against Yuba River Charter School for two reasons. First, YRCS is not even slightly religious. If it were, we would remove our two children. Second, people are misreading the U.S. Constitution.

The First Amendment says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The Founding Fathers saw two huge problems with past governments: an official state religion and persecution of other religions. This is all the Founders wanted to prevent with the crystal-clear First Amendment.

Constitutional debates aside, I can assure you that YRCS is completely secular. The founder of the Waldorf method, Rudolph Steiner, did happen to be religious, but to conclude that YRCS teaches religion is to fail basic logical thinking. Are all Nazis vegetarians because Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian? Is teaching the theory of relativity tantamount to teaching Judaism because Albert Einstein was a Jew?

What makes YRCS different? It is a school where children are free to enjoy childhood. In many other areas in our society, childhood is viewed as a disease to be cured. Can someone explain to me how this could be construed as religious?
