Worth column aided ESL students

Yikes. Where is Bette Worth and her Market Basket column?

I am a Nevada Union Adult Education teacher for the English as a second language class. Several times over the past few years, Bette has featured my foreign and immigrant students. She was always gracious and welcoming to these new members of our community.

The self-respect these adults felt in sharing a part of their old culture with their new neighbors was immeasurable. Moreover, the pride they felt when sending copies of The Union’s articles to family and friends in Russia, Mexico, Japan, Germany, China, Thailand and several other countries was even greater.

For many years, Bette Worth has certainly embodied the quality of community awareness toward which The Union’s “new look” is striving. Please bring her back.
