Woman sideswipes bus, suffers minor injuries

A medicated Nevada County woman sideswiped a school bus with her pickup on Highway 49 Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. Only the pickup driver was injured.

Denise Grayson, 39, was driving a Ford pickup northbound on Highway 49 when she crossed over the double-yellow line at 3 p.m. and hit an empty school bus, CHP officer Jonathan Steiner said.

The bus driver took evasive action and veered right off of the highway at Cherry Creek Road, he said.

Two cars trailing the bus became entangled in the accident, but Grayson was the only motorist injured.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for treatment. She could face charges of driving under the influence of medication or drugs, according to the CHP.
