Wiretapping is illegal

Wiretapping is a slimy business at best, barely justified in wartime or in pursuit of specific criminals. To believe we are at war is to swallow politicians’ rhetoric.

Remember the “War on Drugs” of a decade past? When the generalissimo of that “war,” one Bill Bennett, resigned his job, he helped clear his desk by declaring that war to be won? A farce.

Tapping the phones of ordinary citizens is a fishing trip, which is and should be off limits in a well-run society.

Invoking national security when tapping is challenged is a farce. What fools does Bush think we are?

Censure is a mild response to a crime.
