Why not an attached garage?

Planning Commission Chairperson Laurie Oberholtzer says “It’s not an unreasonable expectation in Nevada City to have a detached garage.”

The building permit applicant followed all the rules and regulations according to commissioner Ruth Poulter.

Several houses in the older neighborhood have attached garages. (Front page, The Union, April 2.)

The owner/applicant does not want to haul his groceries through the Nevada City winter weather. (Go figure.)

Is it an unreasonable expectation to have an attached garage?

What is going on at the Nevada City Planning Commission?
