Why does Taser faze’r?

This letter is in reply to (a letter writer) in The Union on Tuesday, Feb. 8 (“Leave Tasers to others”). I have never seen a more clear cut case of putting one’s head in the sand. I don’t know if you’ve lifted your head lately, but the crime rate is up in our “Little” burg. I don’t know if you read anything other than the Police Blotter in The Union, but lately I have noticed several violent crimes on our front pages. Home break-ins, serious drug offenders, and even tragic car chases. Grass Valley is not the tiny hamlet it used to be, nor is it completely safe. Any resources that police officers can use in place of the deadly force of a handgun should be welcomed.

Perhaps when you call 911 next time, we should send the cow-tipping underage smoker to help you out rather than the well-trained and upstanding police force that you mock in your letter.

Joe and Merri Harris
