Where was the crowd?

Well over 400 flags were reverently and respectfully retired from “duty” in a very impressive ceremony at the American flag retirement ceremony in Memorial Park Saturday, Sept. 28.

Commendations to the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marine Corps League, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled American Veterans and the Nevada Union High School Band for a very patriotic and sensitively choreographed program. We were, however, disappointed in the size of the crowd. There were approximately 40 people in the audience! Where was the wonderful community support and patriotic enthusiasm for this very important occasion?
