Where is evidence?

There’s no evidence to support the notion that our homeless are criminal minded predators that prey on children, yet, our shelter remained closed because this fear was created when an appeal was filed. The real tragedy in all of this – people were sleeping outside tonight.

All involved with HH have shared how incredible the experience was, including the churches.

When you’re homeless, and feel stripped of your dignity, it’s harder to fight for the freedoms and rights the rest of us take for granted. When you’re a homeless child, there is no solid ground under your feet, and we, as a community, have failed you. There is no excuse for us to have homeless children, or anyone else, sleeping outdoors, or in cars. They are human beings, and by failing to allow the WC to open, we caused them to suffer.

I’m a parent, and I understand fear. In my heart, I believe we’re keeping our children safer by not allowing those most vulnerable among us to become desperate. I had some sleepless nights, and an aching heart, until this appeal was over, but this community has embraced this long overdue shelter, and this speaks louder than one voice.
