Where are the patriots?

Patriotism is not just a word or political issue. It’s nearly impossible to define. It’s not something you feel only when your political party is in office. In this nation’s beginning, patriots were willing to sacrifice everything they had to win freedom from oppression. Nearly every signer of your Declaration of Independence and Constitution lost everything – land, homes, family and life – to secure freedom.

Yet young American men and women continue to secure freedom for Americans and all free people. Is a patriot an American who is willing to sacrifice his life to assure freedom, regardless of which party is in office? One thing is certain; a patriot will never burn a flag, never march against freedom, never compromise our troops, and never, ever betray his country. Not even when it’s being disgraced as it was during the eight years prior to the year 2000. And leaving America would be unthinkable. Some people are so filled with hatred and so spoiled that they have completely lost all sight of patriotism. If patriots in our nation’s history had acted as some people choose to today, we would still be part of the British Empire, or perhaps part of Germany or Japan.
