Wellness Center offers variety of classes

A free class titled “Painful Disorders of the Adult Foot” will be held Tuesday in the conference rooms in the Outpatient Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

Offered by the hospital’s Wellness Center, the class will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and will be taught by Ken Runte, DPM.

It will cover a variety of foot problems, including how to care for corns, ingrown toenails, and plantar warts, as well as surgical options for foot problems.

Also starting Tuesday is a new series of three classes called “Taking Charge of Diabetes,” taught by Dr. Runte, Stephen Latter, Susie Petrillo and Laura Seeman.

The classes will meet June 1, 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. There is a fee of $75. Participants will learn to successfully manage their diabetes.

Topics include self-management skills, blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, exercise, and behavior changing steps.

On Wednesday, Jyoti Spearin will begin a three-week series on meditation, called “Bringing Peace and Joy Into Your Life.” It meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and there is a fee of $35.

All classes require preregistration.
