Web site monitors schoolwork

As a parent of two middle school boys with a propensity for getting behind in their schoolwork, I am delighted to have a tool to help me monitor their work and correspond via e-mail with their teachers. In late November, Gilmore went online with Powerschool, a student information Web site that enables parents and students to communicate conveniently and easily.

Students and parents have private, individual passwords to access current grades, attendance, teachers’ comments and a school bulletin. Daily or weekly e-mails from each teacher with assignment and grade information can be set up easily. I receive an e-mail from each of my boy’s classes weekly. I check the site on Friday or Saturday morning and suspend all pleasurable activities until every assignment is completed. It is a wonderful and easy-to-use system, and I commend the administration at Gilmore for investing in this valuable tool.
