We must retain democracy’s essence

Finally in Loraine Webb’s article we hear about hard, often-hidden facts about our government. The unholy alliances between defense manufacturers and our so-called elected officials are deplorable. I suspect many good, well-intentioned Nevada County residents have not read about this before. I have been fearing for our democracy, but when I read this article, a bit of my faith was restored.

We must do more to retain the essence of democracy: acres of room for dissension and an independent press that is free to report on it. Thank you for printing Loraine Webb’s article.
