We all lost

Remember when President Bush got on television to the Iraqi people in March 2003, promising them food, medicine and liberation? He’s brought them hell instead.

One of the things we have against Saddam Hussein is that he killed 300,000 of his own people. By some estimates, you and I have already killed 100,000 of them, putting us well ahead of Saddam’s schedule. At this rate, it’ll take us only six years to accomplish what took him 35.

Now a man who encourages torture will probably be our attorney general, and a woman who doesn’t know what’s important until someone tells her will be secretary of state. A writer of fiction could never dream up these absurdities.

And we still have right-wing folks saying, “We won, you lost; get over it!” The truth is, we all lost.
