Wake up to what the White House is doing

The present resident of the White House is desperately striving to become a dictator. Our civil rights are eroding more and more each day with Cheney’s secret meetings with energy moguls, Ashcroft and his security restrictions, etc.

This administration is attempting to overthrow Roe vs. Wade. This appointed president’s dismal record on the environment is shameful. He wants to scrap all the wonderful environmental accomplishments we’ve achieved in the past 10 years.

Although hundreds of thousands of peace-loving people marched on Jan. 18 to protest war, it fell on deaf ears at the White House. It was as though it never happened.

Bush is so intent on war that he can taste blood. Not his blood, but that of young soldiers and innocent people. This war will cost billions of dollars. Dollars we do not have. Dollars that could be used for social security, Medicare, veterans, schools and the poor.

I am a World War II veteran who loves his country, but it is so sad to see the direction our country is going.

People have to wake up and wake up soon, before it is too late.

I cannot say enough good things about Yuba Docs, our urgent care facility in Grass Valley. Saturday about noon, a close relative had a close encounter with a chainsaw resulting in a pretty deep-looking gash…
