Wake up, smokers

The last week has brought two fires near our home off Highway 174 in Chicago Park. I am thankful for the quick response of the fire departments and emergency personnel that kept each of them from becoming a cataclysmic event.

My point, however, is directed to the folks out there that have managed to remain complacent or unaware that we are living in an extremely vulnerable state here and continue to throw their burning cigarette butts out the window of the cars. I suggest to anyone who sees this to record the license plate number of the vehicle, day, time and location and turn it over to the CHP. If possible, let the driver know that you are taking action. Help wake these folks up. It might save us all a lot of grief.
