Wake up and look around

I read a letter suggesting our police department leave the Taser guns to the “Big Boys.” The writer also seemed to know the highlight of our police officer’s days was deciding where to place the little apparatus that tells us the speed limit. FYI: that little apparatus is placed mostly by senior volunteers, and the goal? To keep everyone safer, just like the goal to bring on Taser guns. I applaud GVPD’s desire to use nonlethal force. Are there still folks out there so foolish as to believe there is no crime in our town? Wake up and look around, the days of cow-tipping are long gone. It sounds as though a lot of people’s main source for staying informed on our local crime is The Union’s police blotter. It appears the police blotter is printed for our entertainment, since it prints a tiny percentage of the emergency calls placed each day, and then only if they’re silly. I believe The Union is working with our local chambers to portray a lovely, little town with no real crime. Our local crime victims know the truth. Thank you Grass Valley police, for keeping everyone’s safety a priority.
