Vote on new parks at special elections? Can’t see why

Two Nevada County officials – County Clerk-Recorder Lorraine Jewett-Burdick and Supervisor Sue Horne – think votes about creation of park districts should be conducted during regularly scheduled elections.

The alternative, scheduling special elections, would cost anywhere from $10,000 to $45,000 more, they say. Besides, fewer people are likely to vote at a special election.

We can’t argue with that. And we don’t think the majority of the Board of Supervisors would argue with it, either.

So let’s not have special elections on this issue.

Glad we got that resolved.
