Volunteers needed to finish trail

Volunteers are sought from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to help finish the final link of the Pioneer Trial, a popular hiking, biking and horse-riding path that starts outside Nevada City near the Five Mile House and extends – almost – to the trail system at Grouse Ridge.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Sierra Discovery Trail on Bowman Lake Road to do work on uncompleted sections of the Pioneer Trail. The goal is to tie it in with the Spaulding Lake Trail at Grouse Ridge.

The trail work is being done under the supervision of the Tahoe National Forest. Participating groups include the Gold Country Trails Council, Bicyclists of Nevada County and the Folsom Auburn Trail Riders Action Coalition.

Participants should bring hats, gloves, sunscreen, boots and water.
