Volunteer Action Center

Nevada County Volunteer Action Center matches the time and talents of volunteers with opportunities to help individuals and nonprofit organizations that provide human services. For information on the following positions or other volunteer jobs, call 272-5041, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weekdays; or stop by 11743 Maltman Drive, Grass Valley.

Exhibit monitor

Volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts at student science fair March 3-12.

Horse handlers

Kids and adults with special needs benefit from horseback riding. Sidewalkers are needed to secure the safety of the rider. Horse experience not necessary; training held in March.

Community outreach

Program that provides low-cost medical, dental and vision care to children of low-income working parents needs help handing out materials, staffing tables, and assisting in various community outreach activities. Flexible two- to four-hours shifts until June. Training provided.


Musicians, dancers, singers, storytellers and comedians needed to brighten the days of brain-impaired adults in a local day-care facility. Performers needed on a very flexible basis.
