Volunteer Action Center

The Nevada County Volunteer Action Center matches the time and talents of volunteers with opportunities to help individuals and nonprofit organizations that provide human services.

Musicians, dancers, singers, storytellers, comedians needed to entertain brain-impaired adults in a day-care facility. Hours very flexible

‘Make A Difference Day’ – yard workers

Physically fit volunteers needed to clean up the yard of a disabled couple in Nevada City Oct. 26 only. Call 272-5041.

Friendly visitor

Provide friendship and support to isolated seniors. One home visit per week. Training will be provided, and time is flexible.

Information and


An information and assistance line is staffed by people who information about all kinds of community services. Answer phones and questions a few hours a week. Computer experience helpful, but not necessary. Training will be provided.

Mine docent

Introduce others to the fascinating history of hardrock mining in our area. Guide tours, maintain heritage rose garden, be involved in a living history program, or help out in the visitors center. Orientation and training provided.
