Victim’s ID still being sought

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office is still trying to identify a man found floating face down Oct. 18 in Rollins Lake near Orchard Springs Campground.

The man is described as being possibly of Asian, Hispanic or American Indian descent; 5-feet-11; approximately 150 pounds; and with black hair and dark brown eyes. He could be anywhere from age 25 to 50, Chief Deputy Coroner Cathy Valceschini said in a news release.

The man was wearing dark-colored clothing – corduroy pants, a T-shirt, a jacket and socks with white tennis shoes.

He was carrying a duffle bag containing personal effects and clothing. He had a key to a KIA automobile, but no such car was found near the campground, Valceschini said.

The sheriff’s office is checking dental and fingerprint records, and doesn’t suspect foul play.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s Coroner Division at 265-1321.
