Veterans Standdown

As we approach Independence Day, we, the Nevada County Veterans Standdown Task Force, want to let the community know that we are continuing to honor our veterans of all wars.

We are returning to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in order to conduct the “All Veterans Standdown 2004.” The event will be held October 8 and 9 at the Northern Mines Building, with access through Gate 4.

Many services will be provided to veterans residing in Nevada, Placer and Sierra counties who wish to receive assistance with employment, medical screening, counseling, county social services, legal aid, county veteran services and other helpful information. Food and clothing are also available for veterans in need who wish to take advantage of this two-day opportunity.

We, the task force volunteers, are happy to return to offer our support and appreciation to the veterans who served our country when called. We are looking forward to another successful event, which is made possible by the generous donations of goods, services and funds from the community.

If you would like to support our efforts, please call 273-1612 to volunteer, or send monetary donations to Nevada County Standdown 2004, P.O. Box 564, Grass Valley, Calif. 95945.
