Venue for adults

This is in response to one reader’s caustic comments about the proposal of Kirby’s new owners to introduce a cigar bar. I suspect that the reader never has patronized Kirby’s, or ever will, even absent a cigar bar.

Those suspicions are based on the fact that anyone who has patronized Kirby’s is aware that it is comprised of a restaurant on the lower floor and a lounge bar on the upper floor whose primary purpose is to dispense alcoholic beverages to “adults!”

In all its history, neither the restaurant or the bar have been promoted as a “family” venue geared for the patronage of young adults or children. I find it hard to believe that any reader so concerned with the smoke pollution of their children would consider exposing them to an environment dispensing alcoholic beverages.

Please let the adults enjoy their venue and let the children attend those places designed to truly promote a family environment.
