Vandals strike

Vandals knocked over several mailboxes and street signs Saturday night or early Sunday morning on Rattlesnake Road.

According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, the damage stretched all the way from Highway 174 to Dog Bar Road.

“This was obviously done by a vehicle,” Sgt. Frank Koehler said. “Virtually anything that could be struck by a vehicle was taken out.”

Koehler said that rain washed out the majority of the suspect vehicle’s tire tracks. He said the vehicle was most likely stolen.

Twelve personal mailboxes, two U.S. Postal Service cluster mailboxes and two street signs were knocked over, Koehler said.
