Use land for NC airport

This letter is regarding the situation with the old Nevada City Airport. I am one of the heirs of a past concerned and loyal citizen who dedicated acreage for the sole purpose of allowing and honoring an airport to be established on this designated land. This has not happened, and even though requests were made with the city (and the county, who co-owned/co maintained the land for a time), no answers or reasons were given as to why this property has not been reverted back to the rightful owners.

My father was a life-long resident and avid pilot in Nevada City. I grew up on the Old Airport Road, and my father and several other neighbors expressly donated land to be used as an airport in the interest of the community, and I dare say, my Dad’s personal interest in an airport being accessible just up the road from him.

When the Loma Rica Airport became the main airport for the area, the Nevada City site was abandoned and no longer maintained by Nevada City. It is now the site of a BMX track, four-wheeling area, etc. Now, in 2002, you sit around in a meeting deciding what to do with the land. What in the world would make you think you can stipulate another use when the original use has never come to pass? Perhaps it is time to get a real feel for where the heirs to this property stand concerning this issue. I wonder what a bright, fair-minded attorney might have to say if a title search were to be performed.
