Two will compete at state spelling bee

Rachel Johnson, a sixth grader at Seven Hills Middle School, and Jason Goodyear, a sixth grader at Forest Lake Christian School, will compete Saturday in the California State Elementary Spelling Championship.

More than 50 of the state’s top elementary school spellers will represent 30 California counties. The students have won school, region and county-level spelling bees. Each county’s first- and second-place spellers are eligible to compete for the championship title in this event coordinated by the Sonoma County Office of Education.
