Tuesday final day to register for primary

Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the March 5 Primary Election. Voters must re-register if they move, change their name, or change their political party.

Voter registration cards are available at 70 locations throughout Nevada County, including government offices, post offices, libraries, chambers of commerce and many businesses.

Voters who register on or before Tuesday will be mailed a postcard notifying them of the location of their polling place.

Information about where to vote is now available on the Elections Office Web site: http://www.election.co.nevada.ca.us. From the Elections Office home page, click on “Look Up Your Polling Place” and type in your residence address (no post office boxes).

The feature cannot tell someone if they are registered to vote. The site merely displays the polling place location for each residence address.

Election results will also be available on the Elections Office Web site beginning at 8 p.m. on March 5.

For more information and to determine if you are registered and eligible to vote in the March 5 primary, call the Elections Office at 265-1298, or phone toll-free from Lake of the Pines at 1-888-395-1298.
