Tree problems

This is in response to [a letter to the editor on Aug. 9] on the imminent danger of four dead trees regarding six neighbors’ homes.

We are a direct neighbor and we are directly next to the dead trees and in the most danger. This lightning strike happened on Aug. 31, 2003. So it is one year old.

The problem is worse than stated by [the letter-writer]. The beetles are destroying all the trees in the vicinity and could feasibly destroy the whole stand of trees on middle Railroad Avenue. Easy to see from Long Street or Turpentine Street.

Beyond the danger of the trees falling, it is an extreme fire danger that could effect the entire town. If our council members are not here to protect us, we should petition to remove them.
