Traffic nightmare

Is everyone aware we have four subdivisions proposed for the Nevada City/Grass Valley area? One of these (Northstar) has proposed 2,000-2,300 homes, a school, fire station, community center, golf course, small stores, etc. This one subdivision alone is enough to create a traffic nightmare for our area.

Two of these subdivisions will feed directly onto Highway 49 south of McKnight Way. A road will be built between Allison Ranch Road and Highway 49 by developers of these two subdivisions. Both alternatives presented will require homes to be demolished so this road can be built.

In my opinion, this is not acceptable unless homeowners are agreeable. These homeowners will receive what is called “fair market value” for their property. It is far less than they could get on the open market. They do not have the option of saying “no thank you.” Do we want to do this to our citizens?

Growth is inevitable, but we need to slow this growth proposed to no less than 20-30 years. Everyone, please let your elected officials know you are very concerned. The traffic and parking problems must be solved before one developer is allowed to begin building.
