Time to reexamine our wealth paradigm

I love conservative Cal Thomas. His latest lament: Democrats are resurrecting class warfare. Thomas argues, “quit whining and just work harder.” Hey, how many of you feel that your life is consumed by work? How is the quality of your life?

Ever feel like the king and his wealthy cronies are comfortable in the castle while you and your fellow peasants toil away dawn to dusk to support the rulers? The promise of capitalism is to reward us all for hard work – got reward?

Maybe it is time to reexamine the paradigm. Ways to wealth: a) work hard, b) work smarter, faster, c) steal, d) inherit/get favorable treatment by stint of class. Let’s face it, for most of us, we’re already doing “a” to little avail, “b” will only work for a few of us, and “c” and “d” are not options.

There really is a ruling elite that uses its vast financial empire to maintain and protect its wealth via buying of top rhetoricians, lawyers and politicians and expensive lobbying.

President Bush: Your “reward the rich” tax plan would sell better if you weren’t living the “golden rule” of the rich – he who has the gold, rules. To arms!
