The uniqueness of California’s Gold Country

The uniqueness of California’s Gold Country is as real today as it was 150 years ago. Nevada County, the center of the area known as the Northern Mines, is filled with historic features of all sorts – mines sites, ditches and canals, streams, reservoirs, lakes, buildings, town sites, etc. The preservation of as many of these as is practical is important for the future of our area. Bruce Conklin has demonstrated he cares about historic preservation and has included it in his overall program to make Nevada County a better place to live.
