The Union helps pets find homes

Thank you to The Union for the wonderful, interesting stories in the paper lately! Not only is it interesting, it has helped the community understand some problems we face here in Nevada County, and around the nation.

For one, the pet overpopulation problems – the recent story regarding the 60 cats left while the owners went on vacation was great. More than 50 animals were adopted, as I was informed, from the Nevada County Animal Shelter. It not only got animals adopted, it educated the community on what not spaying and neutering can cause. The animals are the ones that suffer from the neglect caused by people.

Let’s make Nevada County an example of responsible pet ownership. Please spay and neuter. There are plenty of animals that need homes; we don’t need more! I do a program called For Pets’ Sake, showcasing animals available for adoption. I visit the local animal shelters every week and they are always full. What is causing this? You should know the answer by now. As a result, they have to be killed because no one wants them.

Thank you again to The Union newspaper. Get out there and adopt or foster, and visit your local animal shelters. There is one on Freeman Lane and one on McCourtney Road, both in Grass Valley.
