The real reason why Leipzig is out

Two nasty articles appeared in The Union on Aug. 6 and 8 that blamed Izzy Martin for ousting Marguerite Leipzig from the NC Sanitation District Advisory Committee. After checking with another member of the NC Board of Supervisors (BOS), I learned that Melody Wilson had been chosen to replace Leipzig because Wilson had been most helpful to the BOS in recent years, and, after 10 years of service by Leipzig on the sanitation committee, it was time to make a change. The supervisor also revealed that is was a majority vote by the BOS that replaced Leipzig – Izzy does not have that power alone.

Marguerite has served our community for many years; it seems only fitting that she pass the baton to the next generation.
