The good ol’ days

As a retiree from San Francisco, and Nevada County immigrant circa 1984, I remember well the opening night of the Nevada County Fair all those years with celebrities such as Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, The Oakridge Boys, Waylon Jennings, etc., and I am saddened by their absence in current years.

I don’t know why things such as this have to go downhill, but with respect to Les Young, The Sheriff’s Posse, The Firefighter’s Association, Nevada City Police Officer Dave Burke, ‘Be Like Me Drug Free’ and all those who kept these things alive in those prior years, I salute you and I miss you.
