Thanks to Ackeret

I want to mark the loss of a really wonderful person in our community. Marge Ackeret recently passed on, and what she and her husband Len have contributed as a support for the arts and artists in this community was and still is substantial. Marge helped found the Pioneer Arts group here in Nevada County many years ago. As a young artist I found it as a place of fellowship, hope and encouragement from the other artists when my own career was really starting. It is still a wonderful place to grow and be a part of each others lives and struggles. Marge’s home was open to artists every Friday for as long as I have known of Pioneer Arts. The years – I am not sure but it has to be over 17 years that I know of. The Ackerets have supported young artists and youth in this community by encouraging and helping them incorporate their art into their future development. I just wanted to say my own thanks, and most likely on behalf of many others in realizing what a quiet and beautiful impact Marge has had here.
