Terrorism breeds terrorism

Terrorist actions and the threat of terrorism, instead of decreasing, have increased since the war with Iraq began. To know how to really combat terrorism, we must find answers to the following questions:

1. What has the United States done and what are we now doing that makes potential terrorists want to kill Americans? Can we change?

2. What is the situation in which a potential terrorist finds himself that makes him so desperate that he is eager and willing to commit suicide to kill Americans? Can this be changed?

Bombings, surveillance and police tactics cannot stop the terrorist who is willing to give up his life. We must find a way to convince him that he can achieve his goals nonviolently and live in peace. How can we do this?
