Talk of "sabotage" is beyond me

“The Union sabotaged Martin’s campaign?” Come on. Martin sabotaged Martin’s campaign by being the NH 2020 flame thrower and thinking that she knew what was better for this county than the people that live in it. She, Van Zant and Conklin were going to cram it down our throats whether we liked it or not! It is payback time for that arrogance!

Some of you people in Nevada City need to do a reality check, and you can use “linear thinking,” whatever that is, to do so if you choose.

“SPI bought the election!” Not true, and I am surprised The Union published this letter. To make such a proposition only shows how uninformed the writer is about what SPI is and what SPI is about. SPI cares about their land and taking care of their land, and that is all SPI cares about.

They are not pro-development or anti-development. Those are not issues that concern them. What does concern them, though, are threats to their land. Martin, Van Zant and Conklin, by cramming NH 2020 down our throats and semi-supporting the Nevada City-based Yuba Nation, forced SPI to take sides. What else would you expect them to do?

Now, how The Union sabotaged Martin is beyond me. I was going to complain that they had been very unfair to Bedwell!

Some people in Nevada City may want to make it the Berkeley of the Sierras, but there are still some locals who live here, and the socialist invaders from the west need to quit whining. I have lived in Nevada City for 22 years, and now it is your basic tourist trap. No barbershop, no hardware store, no drug store, no gas station. There is no there there!
