Supervisors increase gate fee at landfills

Nevada County supervisors on Tuesday approved:

— raising the minimum gate fee at county landfills from $1.50 to $3. Officials had suggested raising the minimum to $4

— paying Vanir Construction Management $33,200 more to oversee building the new juvenile hall, bringing the total to $403,413

— authorized an agreement with the state Department of Housing & Community Development to provide $500,000 for down payments to qualified first-time home buyers
