‘Suburban Nation’

If you missed Mr. Ackerman’s column of Tuesday, “Listen to the SMART GROWTHERS,” go to The Union archives online and read it. He reviews a book called “Suburban Nation.”

“Suburban Nation” is a readable review of planning history and future possibilities for creating human scale, walkable communities. To be sure, there are anti-smart-growth arguments available on the Web. But those arguments are weak when read alongside the smart growth ideas in this book.

Best of all, you can get “Suburban Nation” for free at your beautiful, well-stocked public library.
