Student entries are sought

Feb. 1 is the deadline for entries in the annual “Real Women” writing competition for high school students sponsored by Northern Mines Business and Professional Women.

High school seniors are asked to interview women in the area who have made contributions to the community or to individual students. They then write 300-500 word essays about the women.

This is the 11th year for the contest, co-sponsored by the Grass Valley Elks and The Union. Winners will be honored at a banquet March 11; winning essays will be published in The Union.

For information about entries or the banquet, contact Dee Eldridge at 273-0257.
