Stay with General Plan

Samantha Hinrichs

Fourteen years ago, when I was a freshman at Nevada Union, I wrote a letter about the Loma Rica Ranch proposals. Today, I am urged to write again about the most recent proposal. The General Plan, diligently and conscientiously developed by the residents of Nevada County, outlines appropriate growth. I feel that the current plan for the Loma Rica Ranch is inconsistent with the county’s residents’ desires. The ranch is one of the treasures of our county, lush, beautiful and a reminder of our farming roots.

A recent visitor from Maryland remarked to me, as we drove by the ranch, that she never sees this sort of thing in Maryland except in the far countryside. Neighbors, I remind you why we live here. Drive by the ranch and see again what we have here. Let the ranch be developed in a way consistent with our General Plan.
