SPD to thank customers today

The Union staff

SPD Market in Grass Valley will be hosting a customer appreciation day and giving away free hot dogs and lemonade to their customers between the hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The Kentucky Flat 4-H group will be cooking the hot dogs and distributing them to customers, as well as helping customers deliver groceries to their cars.

“The day is an opportunity to thank all of our customers for shopping at SPD and let them know that we really appreciate their business,” said Greg Wasley, SPD store manager for the Grass Valley store. “We are also happy to be working with the Kentucky Flat 4-H group as part of the promotion.”

The 4-H youth development program is designed to engage youth in reaching their fullest potential. The Kentucky Flat organization includes programs in art, cooking, leadership, gardening and sports, as well as livestock care, breeding and showing. The group will accept donations to help raise money to buy an animal scale by June, to be able to weigh livestock for the Nevada County Fair.

“Community service is part of our mission statement, and SPD markets has always been a strong supporter of local business in Nevada County”, said Carolyn Steele, community leader of the Kentucky Flat 4-H club. “We hope to make this a great day for all of SPD’s customers.”
