Something’s up with postal system

What’s happening to the postal system?

It takes five days for a first-class letter to go from Marysville to Orange County.

The Pony Express carried and delivered mail by riders on swift ponies. This system was in operation from April 1860 to October 1861 between St. Joseph, Mo., and Sacramento.

Also, 200 voting ballots never got to the voting clerk.

What is wrong with the system?
