Something’s happening

There’s something happening here in Nevada County. Political change is in the air.

I, as the chairwoman of the Nevada County Democratic Central Committee, have seen an increase in registration for the Democratic Party from all the other parties, the greatest of which is from the Republican Party. Why is this? Many factors come into play, but the foremost one is that the ideals that first drew them to their party of choice 10, 20 or 30 years ago are not the same ideals today.

When their leader, our appointed president, speaks of his base being the elitists at his black-tie fund-raisers, questions arise as to where ordinary, paycheck-driven members fit into that equation. All of a sudden they realize that their issues are not foremost in their leaders’ eyes and their families are being affected by the decisions he is making to please his base.

There is a unity of purpose happening here. I invite all Nevada County residents who find displeasure with their party to come talk about the issues that affect all of us. Join us in this fight, for I can assure you, we the people are the base in the Democratic Party.
