So how come local Republicans

Board of Supervisor elections are supposed to be nonpartisan for good reason. Local issues don’t lend themselves to black-and-white, us-versus- them, solutions.

So how come local Republicans are literally fist-fighting over who to support in District 4, and District 3 challenger Bedwell openly declares himself a conservative while deriding his opponent as a tree hugger? Your own results may vary, but in my life’s experience those lock-step died-in-the-wool types of either extreme always seem to blunder by picking doctrine over common sense. Jingoism or labels, be it from the left or right, is usually a mask for ignorance.

If Mr. Bedwell wants to advance a right-wing agenda, he should consider running for national office or becoming a radio commentator. As for Ms. Sutherland, other than property rights (yet, strangely, indecision on Measure D), does anyone know her stance on any other local issue? Anyone?
